Starbucks Reserve® 100% Oahu Coffee
Smooth, delicate and long-lost, a bygone coffee returns home.
The first coffee beans to grow in Hawaii were nurtured on the historic island of Oahu in the early 19th century. But soon, as development on the island raced ahead of the world – bringing electricity and plumbing to its royal citizens even before the White House and Windsor Palace – the region’s agricultural plots were converted to sugar cane and coffee production left Oahu for neighboring islands.
More than 100 years later, the Waialua Estate on the Wahiawa Plateau, formerly the largest sugar cane plantation in Oahu, is growing coffee again.
This is the first time we’ve had the honor of sharing this extremely limited coffee. Its smooth, creamy texture and sumptuous notes of baking chocolate and dried fig make for a cup as magnificent as Hawaii’s coveted 100% Kona varietal – only rarer.
