KUWAIT, August 14, 2012: In the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Starbucks celebrated Gergea’n with local bloggers and their families in a relaxed and festive evening on August 4, in Starbucks Behbehani Store.
Among the many enjoyable Gergea’n activities that Starbucks organised for the bloggers and their families were an appearance by “Abo Tbaila,” the famous Ramadan character, and henna and face painting sessions. Children with the best costume and best song received special gifts during the evening, and Starbucks’ partners gave away Gergea’n sweets.
As part of Starbucks commitment to community work, the sweets were placed in a large traditional basket purchased from 17-year-old Kuwaiti girl, Sara H. Thekair, who loves culture and sells such handicrafts for the benefit of charity. The proceeds were going to the orphanage.
Rana Shaheen, regional communications and CSR manager at Starbucks MENA said: “The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time for sharing and giving, and a time for families to rejoice. We were particularly pleased to share this special occasion with so many from the blogging community and their children.”
Starbucks will continue to hold special events to celebrate traditional festivities with the communities it serves.
